Men's Basketball to Host Toys for Tots Collection, Salute Vets & Public Safety Personnel
November 30, 2017 | Men's Basketball
MUNCIE, Ind. --Â The Ball State men's basketball program will host Toys for Tots Military and Public Safety Appreciation Day on Saturday, Dec. 9 at Worthen Arena in partnership with the U.S. Marine Corps League Mounds Detachment from Anderson and the Muncie Fire Department.
Â
The Cardinals are scheduled to host Valparaiso at 2 p.m.
Â
Any individual who presents a valid military or public safety I.D. will receive complimentary admission for the game, while each fan who brings a toy to donate will receive specially-priced $6 (bronze section) or $10 (silver) tickets.
Â
Ball State students are encouraged to participate, as well, with 50 student rewards bonus points accumulated with a donated toy.
Â
Fans may drop off their donated toys inside the ground level lobby of Gate 1 at Worthen Arena beginning at noon on game day. Toys will be accepted until 3 p.m. Those unable to attend the game may drop off a donated toy at the same location on Friday, Dec. 8 between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Â
The mission of the U. S. Marine Corps League Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children in the community in which the campaign is conducted.
Â
The Mounds Detachment is the official Toys for Tots coordinator for Madison and Henry Counties and other parts of Central Indiana. The Muncie Fire Department has carried the flag for the Toys for Tots program in Muncie since the 1970s in partnership with the local Salvation Army. In more than 30 years, these groups have collected and distributed more than 170,000 toys to more than 56,000 children.
Â
Fans with questions should contact the Stoops Buick/GMC Ticket Center at 765-285-1474.
