Charlie’s Coloring Contest Makes Vibrant Debut

MUNCIE, Ind. – In conjunction with the Ball State Office of Community Engagement, Ball State Athletics piloted Charlie's Coloring Contest in seven area preschools. The results were, well, colorful!
Nearly 200 Delaware County youngsters colored a Charlie Cardinal outline or created custom art to earn a voucher good for two tickets to a variety of December men's or women's basketball games.
"We are having so much fun connecting local children with Charlie Cardinal and, as a result, Ball State University and the athletics department," said associate athletic director for marketing and fan engagement, Shawn Sullivan. "I want to thank Suzie Jones and the Office of Community Engagement for assisting us in getting this off the ground and all of the local preschools for giving this program a chance."
The coloring contest is the next initiative in this arena as Charlie's Reading Challenge has grown swiftly from one pilot school in the fall of 2016 to now more than 70 schools enrolled for the early 2018 program.
