Men's Tennis Wins First MAC Match Of The Season

DEKALB, Ill. - The Ball State men's tennis team opened its Mid-American Conference season with a 4-3 win over Binghamton Saturday afternoon at a neutral site which was played in DeKalb, Ill.
With the win, Ball State moved to 11-4 overall and 1-0 in league action.
The Cardinals fell behind early after losing the doubles point to Bearcats. Binghamton took victories on courts one and two by a 6-2 decision to claim doubles play.
After that, Ball State evened the score 1-1 after Bryce Boning took his match quickly over Alejandro Pena on court six, 6-3, 6-1. The Bearcats won the next match on court two in a three set thriller to push Binghamton's lead to 2-1 with four courts remaining. Nemanja Guzina captured a tight first set 7-6 (7) against Tago Lourenco. He then won the second set 6-3 for the victory on the top court.
With the match tied 2-2, Conner Andersen took down in three sets Sebastian Quiros at the No. 4 position to give Ball State the lead back at 3-2. The match continued to be a tight affair as the Bearcats took the next match from the Cardinals at number three singles. The decision would come down to Chris Adams at the five spot. Adams had won the first set over Inigo Saez. He then dropped the second one 7-6. Adams then went on to clinch the match for Ball State in the third 6-2.
The Ball State men's tennis team continues Mid-American Conference action when it plays at Northern Illinois Sunday. First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m. in Rockford, Ill.
