Women's Tennis Loses 4-3 At Eastern Michigan Friday

YPSILANTI, Mich. - The Ball State women's tennis team (7-8, 0-3 MAC) lost, 4-3, to Eastern Michigan (13-4, 2-1 MAC) Friday afternoon at the Chippewa Racquet Club.
For the third-straight Mid-American Conference match, the Cardinals took the doubles point from their respective league opponent. Ball State fell early in doubles play losing the first match on the top court, 6-3. The Cardinals then redeemed themselves on courts two and three to take the early 1-0 edge over the Eagles. Audrey Berger alongside partner Rebecca Herrington took down Guiliana Ansaloni and Natalia Regalado 6-2 at the No. 2 spot and then teammates Peyton Gollhofer and Victoria Sec clinched doubles action with their 6-4 win over Andrea Martinovska and Ann Veleva 6-4 at the No. 3 position.
In singles action, Eastern Michigan evened the score 1-1 with its win at the No. 1 slot. Isabelle Dohanics then pushed Ball State's lead to 2-1 with her straight set defeat at No. 4 singles over Anasaloni. Berger then captured the 6-0, 6-4 victory against Veleva on court three to make the score, 3-1. But the Eagles took wins on courts two, five and six to claim the match over the Cardinals. The match came down to No. 6 singles, Lilya Hadab dropped a three set thriller, 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 to Alejandra Barcelo.
The Ball State women's tennis team will take a break from league action when it hosts University of Northern Iowa on Friday, April 6 at 2:30 p.m. at the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center, weather permitting.
