OCALA, Fla. – Freshman Anna Keen and Junior Payton Kelly continued their impressive performances at the FAST (Florida Aquatics Swimming & Training), as they each set new program standards in individual competition on Day 2 of the 2025 CSCAA National Invitational Championships.
Following a second-place finish in the 50 butterfly a day prior, Keen advanced to the top finals position in the 100 Friday morning after posting a time of 53.03. In the process, Keen bested her previous mark of 53.64, which she set two weeks ago at the Mid-American Conference Championships Feb. 28.
Initially sharing the fastest program time with Mallory Miles, who set the record in 2013, Keen now holds the new standard in the Cardinals' record book on her own. In the finals, Keen went on to surpass the former record once again, placing fourth in the finals with a time of 53.06.
During time trials, Kelly set a new top mark in the 100 backstroke, clocking in at 53.52 and claiming her third individual program record in two weeks.
Representing the men's side in the finals was sophomore Tommy Brunner, who placed 17th in the 400 individual medley (4:03.12), knocking nearly two seconds off his preliminary time of 4:05.12 from earlier in the morning.
The Cardinals continue action with 11 events Saturday at the CSCAA National Invitational Championships, with prelims starting at 9:30 a.m. and finals at 6 p.m.
