
Ball State Concludes Road Trip with 3-1 Victory Over Queens

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Ball State men's volleyball secures the match two win over Queens in Charlotte, North Carolina with a 3-1 (22-25, 25-19, 25-18, 25-22) score to close the road trip.
The Cardinals had a rocky start to the first set. After dropping the opening two points to Queens, Ball State struggled to fight its way back. At 13-16, the Cardinals were able to put together a four-point run to take their first lead of the set. Queens came back to tie it at 19-19, however, and ultimately secured the set on a 25-22 kill.
Ball State opened the second set at a faster pace, working to an early 5-2 advantage. The Cardinals' defense denied Queens the chance to go on any runs and was able to maintain the lead through the end of the frame. Braydon Savitski-Lynde closed the set with a kill to hold the Royals at 25-19. The Royals finished the set at a .091 clip while the Cardinals soared at .417.
Staying consistent, the Cardinals continued to hold off the Royals offense into set three. With six total blocks in the frame, the Ball State defensive front shut down Queens' attempts to a .094 hitting percentage. A kill from Rajé Alleyne finished the set at 25-18 and gave the Cardinals a 2-1 advantage heading into the fourth frame.
To finish the match, Ball State put up a .379 clip and 17 kills to defeat the Royals in a 25-22 fourth set.
Despite dropping the first set, Ball State took a strong control over the match. The Cardinals hit at a .400 clip while holding Queens to just .208. The Cardinals also dominated at the net, adding 10 total blocks to Queens' two.
Three Cardinals recorded double digits to lead the offense to victory. At the top of the group was Tinaishe Ndavazocheva who added 22 kills at a .485 clip. Alleyne followed with 16 kills, hitting an impressive .519 and Patrick Rogers who totaled 11 kills.
Peter Zurawski had another successful night setting the offense, recording 52 assists.
The power duo of Vanis Buckholz and Savitski-Lynde once again led the Cardinals' defense, each tallying five blocks.
Ball State men's volleyball will return home next week to host two conference rivals. Starting on Friday (Mar. 28) night, the Cardinals will face Quincy back in Worthen at 7 p.m. ET. The team will follow with a match against No. 10 McKendree on Saturday (Mar. 29) night at 5 p.m. ET. Saturday's match will also feature senior and alumni night.
