
MVB Suffers Upset in Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ohio, -- Ball State men's volleyball dropped Thursday's match to Ohio State 1-3 (14-25, 25-23, 25-27, 19-25) on the road in Covelli Center.
The 15th-ranked Cardinals (17-10, 9-5 MIVA) finished the night at a .314 (49-16-105) percentage, while the 18th-ranked Buckeyes (13-10, 8-5 MIVA) were hitting at a .437 (65-13-119) clip.
Tinaishe Ndavazocheva led Ball State's offense, recording 15 kills while hitting .500 from the floor.
Peter Zurawski assisted the offense, dishing out 32 assists. Zurawski also recorded a career high 13 digs.
Blocking the Buckeye's offense were Vanis Buckholz, Ndavazocheva and Braydon Savitski-Lynde who each recorded three.
The Cardinals were never able to fall into a rhythm to open set one. Ohio State's offense took off, winning the first point 25-14 after hitting .6 (16-1-25).
Ball State's offense came alive in the second frame after taking the opening two points. Breaking multiple ties and fighting through back-and-forth possessions, the Cardinals were able to come back and take set two 25-23.
Despite evening the match at a point each, Ohio State was able to hold off the Cardinals through the final two frames. The Buckeyes secured set three in extra points, finishing 27-25, and closed the match on a 25-19 set four.
Ball State will look ahead to Saturday (Apr. 5), when they travel to Fort Wayne, Indiana to take on Purdue Fort Wayne. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET.
