
Gallagher, Korthuijs are 1-2 After Day 1 of Brittany Kelly Classic

YORKTOWN, Ind. - - Ball State senior Sarah Gallagher opened play in the 2025 Brittany Kelly Classic with the lowest round of her collegiate career and maintains a one-stroke lead after the opening 36 holes at The Players Club at Woodland Trails.

Playing as an individual, Gallagher shot -3 (69) in her opening round which is also the lowest for a Cardinals golfer so far this season. She followed with an even-par 72 to close the first day of play leading the 50-golfer field at -3 (141).

Gallagher tied for the tournament lead on the course's par fives, playing those at a combined -2 (4.67). She was also second in par four average at -1 (3.96). Gallagher's day including eight total birdies which is also tied for the tournament lead.

Right behind is sophomore Sophie Korthuijs who shot -1 (71) in both her rounds Monday to lead the squad's countable players and hold second overall at -2 (142) on the 72-par, 6,262-yard course. She is tied with Gallagher for the tournament lead with eight birdies, while holding the overall edge on the course's par fours at -3 (3.88).

Overall, all five of Ball State's team players finished the day among the field's top 13 players. Senior Sabrina Langerak is tied for fourth overall, five strokes off the lead at +2 (146). She carded four birdies over her final 18, shooting E (72) in her second round. She also tallied a pair of birdies in her opening round.

Senior Jasmine Driscoll is currently tied for seventh at +4 (148), including the tournament's lone eagle so far in the second round. Driscoll's eagle, the second for the Cardinals in tournament play this season, came on the 339-yard, par-4 12th when she dunked the ball from about 90 yards out.

Junior JJ Gregston climbed 12 spots up the leaderboard with her second-round effort of +1 (73) which included three of her four birdies on the day. She is currently tied for 10th overall at +7 (151).Â

In her collegiate debut, freshman Skylar Dean also climbed 12 spots up the leaderboard over her final 18 of the day, with a +1 (73) of her own. She collected three birdies on the day and is tied for 12th overall at +8 (152).

Combined, their effort has Ball State in first overall at +11 (587), 14 strokes ahead of second-place Dayton at +25 (601). After shooting +10 (298) in the opening round, the Cardinals tied their lowest effort in a tournament at The Players Club at Woodland Trials with a +1 (289) in the second round.
