
Women’s Tennis Wraps up Day One at Xavier Fall Invite

CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Ball State women's tennis finished its first day of competition at the Xavier Fall Invitational. The Cardinals played Xavier and Dayton in singles action with one round of doubles versus Northern Kentucky.
Ball State took all three courts from Northern Kentucky in doubles. Isabel Tanjuatco paired up with Sarah Shahbaz defeating Alyssa Cameron and Aaditi Bhat, 6-0. Gabriella Barrera alongside teammate Alana Bristow took down Darya Gneidina and Sydney Zakie by a 6-1 decision while the duo of Anya Tkachyk and Asia Ting Fontana captured a 6-3 victory versus Catherine Cardoso and Haley Slay.
The Cardinals also found success in singles against the Dayton Flyers winning all six matches in straight sets. Shahbaz beat Kristen Chin (6-4, 6-0), Priyanka Rana captured the win over Montserrat Sierra (6-2, 7-6), Bristow earned her match 7-5, 6-0 and Tanjatco, Barrera, along with Fontana rounded out the victories versus UD in the bottom three spots, respectively.
Ball State dropped all six singles matches to host Xavier.
The Ball State women's tennis team will wrap up tournament play at Xavier on Sunday with a 10 a.m. ET first serve.
