October 17, 2024 | Women's Swimming and Diving
MUNCIE, Ind. - - The Ball State women's swimming & diving program returns to action Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. when it travels to the Corwin M. Nixon Aquatic Center for a Missouri Valley Conference showdown with Miami.
Friday's matchup between the two programs will be the first dual meeting since the RedHawks earned a 167-132 victory in the Lewellen Aquatic Center on Jan. 21, 2023.
Ball State won six events that day, including a breaststroke sweep from now graduate swimmer Laura Wright. Junior Payton Kelly also took home the 50 free title at the meet.
Both Wright and Kelly jumped off the block strong to open the 2024-25 campaign, combining for four of the team's 10 individual event wins in last Saturday's 176.5-123.5 victory over UIC.
Also picking up two individual event wins each on the day were senior Lilia Newkirk and graduate diver Grace Walker. Sophomore Alexa Von Holtz and freshman Anna Keen each added one individual event victory, while the Cardinals also swept the relay events.
Miami also opened the season last weekend, suffering a 180-82 setback at Notre Dame Friday and a 203-97 loss at Northwestern Saturday.
