
Volleyball Sweeps Milwaukee in Saturday Action

MILWAUKEE, Wis. - - The Ball State women's volleyball team hit a blistering .421 (46-6-95) to improve to 2-0 in the Marquette Tournament with a 3-0 (25-17, 25-11, 25-15) sweep of Milwaukee Saturday afternoon at the Al McGuire Center.

The mark ties as the 14th-best team attack percentage in a match in program history and is the Cardinals' (4-4) best effort since hitting .423 (50-9-97) in a sweep of Western Michigan on Nov. 15, 2024.

The effort was quarterbacked by Ball State's setter pair of junior Lindsey Green and freshman Reese Axnesswho dished out 23 and 12 assists, respectively. Green also finished the match with three kills, three blocks and a service ace, her team-leading 11th ace of the season.

On the offensive front, graduate outside Noelle VanOort led all players with 14 kills and hit an impressive .591 (14-1-22) against the Panthers (0-8). Sophomore outside Carson Tyler was second on the list with 12 kills and a .344 (12-1-32) rate of success, followed by junior middle Gwen Crull with eight kills and a .667 (8-0-12) hitting mark.

Tyler also collected a match-high 16 digs for her fifth double-double of the season, while earning a perfect reception percentage after leading the Cardinals with 19 attempts. Ball State's backcourt efforts also saw sophomore libero Sophie Ledbetter collect nine digs and sophomore defensive specialist Elizabeth Tabelingtally seven.

At the net, Crull chipped in a match best four total blocks, followed by Green's three. Overall, the Cardinals held a 7.0 to 2.0 advantage in total blocks. The effort helped Ball State limit the Milwaukee offense to a .151 (29-15-93) attack percentage.

On the other side of the net, Josie Noble led the Panthers with nine kills, while Natalie Schmitz chipped in eight. Kara Erdmann was credited with a team-high 10 digs.
